Highlights of the week

The Only AI Updates Summary You Need To Know

There were many AI updates in the last week from the two most prominent players, OpenAI and Google. Don’t feel overwhelmed; not all of the updates will immediately turn your daily work upside down.

I have put together some critical updates that can help you tremendously streamline your workload and boost your productivity.

ChatGPT-4o voice chat

With the GPT-4o model, ChatGPT can now understand and speak to users in real-time.

You can use ChatGPT-4o for real-time translation in a conversation or a coaching session (take it on a walk).

Tips: Provide ChatGPT context and instructions such as “Translate only when I finished my sentence,” “Don’t give out the answer, only step-by-step instructions.”

ChatGPT-4o Integrations

You can now connect ChatGPT to Google Drive and OneDrive to upload files to the chat from these platforms, without downloading them to your computers.

These integrations also allow users to interact and adjust the tables and charts ChatGPT generates.

ChatGPT-4o image and video

ChatGPT-4o can access the camera to “see” your screen and receive video inputs.

Use cases: You can now treat ChatGPT-4o as a partner to share your screen and work on a task together. It can be a math problem, a brainstorming session, or a coding project.

Gemini AI teammate

The AI teammate has its own email address and can appear alongside you in group chat, email, and documents like any human co-worker. The team can assign the AI teammate a specific role and optimize it toward the goal.

What you can do: Ask an AI teammate to collect and restructure receipts, summarize an email thread, and ask a specific question about something mentioned in a group.

Gemini is Everywhere

Gemini is now integrated into every Google product to support you in real-time.

You can call for Gemini everywhere, whether in Gmail or Spreadsheet. For Android users, you can even ask Gemini about things happening around you, such as “Tell me about this bridge.”

“Google will do the Googling for you”

When you type your question in the search bar, Google will no longer only provide article links but also an AI overview to provide you with an answer summarized from different sources. This can be a game-changer for our searching behavior.

Some of these features are in alpha and will be rolled out soon. The potential is limitless.

I have no doubt that these mind-blowing updates today will soon be norms in only several years to come.

Are you excited or anxious about these updates?
