Highlights of the week

Claude 3.5 marks an end to ChatGPT’s supremacy

Anthropic has just rolled out Claude 3.5, marking a significant leap in AI conversational abilities. This new version of Claude is designed to be more than just a chatbot; it's a sophisticated AI partner that understands context better, retains information longer, and responds with greater accuracy.

Key Updates in Claude 3.5:

  • Performance Improvements: A “new industry benchmark” in coding, math, visual analysis, and reasoning capabilities. It also performs at twice the speed of Claude 3 Opus.
  • Increased Context Window: With an expanded context window of 100k tokens, Claude 3.5 can process and recall much more information from your interactions, leading to more coherent and relevant responses.
  • Artifact Window: An artifact window displayed side-by-side with the chat. These Artifacts provide contextual information, summaries, or additional data relevant to the ongoing conversation, making it easier to extract actionable insights.
  • A “cooler” friend: Claude 3.5 is better at grasping nuance and has a better sense of humor!

More about the ability of Claude 3.5:

Illya Sutskever’s Superintelligence Initiative

In a groundbreaking move, Illya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI, announced a new venture called SSI, aimed at developing safe superintelligence. Superintelligence, or ASI, is a theoretical form of AI that is more advanced than the human brain.

This initiative is about pushing the boundaries of what AI can do and ensuring that these advancements are aligned with human values and safety. The goal is to create superintelligent systems that can think and learn far beyond AI's current capabilities while being inherently safe and beneficial.

Does SSI’s mission sound appealing? Yes.

Could they make it safe and transparent? Let’s wait and see.
