Step 1: Set Up a Weekly AI News Trigger
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It’s a behind-the-scenes feature that many websites use to broadcast their latest content, like headlines and article summaries, in a standardized format.
Instead of manually checking each site, RSS feeds let tools like Zapier automatically collect the latest articles for you, as soon as they’re published.
In Zapier:
- Choose “RSS by Zapier” as your starting step.
- Select “New Items in Multiple Feeds.”
This tells Zapier to check news sources on a schedule, every 15 minutes or every day.
You’ll now enter a list of trusted news feeds.
Paste in the following links:
• https://openai.com/news/rss.xml (OpenAI news)
• https://techcrunch.com/category/artificial-intelligence/feed/ (TechCrunch AI)
• https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence (The Verge AI)
• https://blog.google/technology/ai/rss/ (Google News)
Zapier will monitor all these sources for new headlines so you don’t have to.
Step 2: Collect the News into a Weekly Digest
Next, add the step:
- App: Digest by Zapier
- Event: Append Entry and Schedule Digest
In the Configure, make sure to map the Title, Link, and Description of the news on RSS feed as an entry for Digest. This gathers all the AI news you received during the week and stores it in a single bundle.
Set it to compile at the specific time you’d prefer, for example:
- Frequency: Weekly
- Day: Monday
- Time: 8:00 AM
Think of this as your “news inbox” that only opens once a week, keeping noise out and context in.
Step 3: Summarize the News with ChatGPT
Now, let ChatGPT do the reading for you. But before you can use ChatGPT in Zapier, you need to connect your OpenAI account.

In your next Zapier step:
- Choose “ChatGPT (OpenAI)” as the app.
- Select “Conversation” as the action.
Paste this into the User Message field:
When receiving new news from {{Current Digest}} search for more information online then write a summary of the news, focus on what executives and leaders should know. Present in bullet points format with key takeaways.

Step 4: Send the Summary to Yourself (or Your Team)
Now connect Slack (or email, or wherever you want to receive it).
- Add Slack as the next step in Zapier.
- Choose “Send Direct Message” or “Post to Channel.”
- Message Text: {{3. Output Text}} (Output from Step 3)
Result: Every time there’s a new article, your Slack pings you with a clear, smart summary.
Tip: You can send to a private message just for yourself or share in a #leadership channel to look sharp.
Step 5: Fine-Tune to Make It Yours
Want to make this even smarter?
- Adjust the prompt to match your tone: “Write in a confident, analytical style.” or “Emphasize strategic impact over technical details.”
- Filter for articles with keywords like “executive,” “C-suite,” “regulation,” or “AI strategy.”
- Switch the delivery from Slack to Email or Notion if that works better for you.
Instead of spending time scrolling through dozens of articles, you now get only the most relevant AI news, summarized in a way that speaks to how leaders think, and delivered automatically to the place where you already work.
