ChatGPT Agent: 50 Use Cases for Business Leaders

As my colleague Evelyn discussed on Tuesday, OpenAI’s new ChatGPT Agent is an AI assistant that doesn’t just chat, it acts on your behalf.

In practical terms, this means that ChatGPT Agent can think and operate using its own virtual computer, performing tasks from start to finish.

In the full article, I unpack what ChatGPT Agent really is, how to access it, and share 50 practical use cases for business leaders, from meeting prep to market research, financial modeling, and even company offsite planning.

Category Essentials: AI Video Editing

If you're spending a lot of time editing videos, whether for communication materials, coaching sessions, workshop recaps, or marketing content, this week's community poll is for you.

Here’s a fresh look at the top picks from our community in this category:

#1 Veed AI

Veed continues to show up across teams producing video content at speed. It’s lightweight, browser-based, and easy to learn—even for non-editors.

A newer feature lets you auto-insert B-roll footage in just one click based on your content. It’s been a go-to for quick edits where polish matters but time is tight.

>> Try Veed here.

#2 Descript

Descript often comes up when video is part of a larger content workflow, such as turning webinars into clips or syncing with podcast production.

You can edit video by editing the transcript, and the AI assistant helps clean up filler and restructure what you say.

Community members like the transcription quality and ease of use compared to older tools like Camtasia, especially when working with talking-head content.

>> Try Descript here.

#3 Microsoft Clipchamp

Have you heard of it, or better, tried it? If you're already using Microsoft Copilot, Clipchamp and its AI features are likely already available to you. And it's more capable than many expect.

Clipchamp includes competitive features like transcript-based editing, silence and filler word removal, background noise cleanup, and more.

Generalist vs Specialized AI Guide, Human+AI Intelligence Environment, Trump's Aggressive AI Blueprint

I read dozens of AI newsletters weekly, so you don’t have to. Here are the top 3 insights worth your attention:

#1 A Guide for Generalist vs. Specialized AI

This question keeps coming up from leaders in our community, and perhaps you're facing it too: Should I keep building around generalist AI like ChatGPT, or bring in a specialized tool for my domain or team?

This HBR piece offers rare clarity. Written by two healthcare AI veterans, including the founder of Basys.ai (AI for healthcare) and a former CIO of Mass General Brigham, the article lays out when generalist models shine and when they become liabilities (hint: high-stakes decisions, domain-specific logic, regulatory risk).

They also offer a good framework for evaluating AI vendors and answering the “how do I choose?” question.

#2 Smarter AI ≠ Smarter Organizations

Most companies deploy AI like it’s a better spreadsheet. But real value comes when leaders design environments where AI and humans think together, not just work faster.

Drawing from Stephen Wolfram’s radical ideas on computation, this piece on MIT Sloan reframes AI strategy as a design challenge, not a tech upgrade.

If you lead people, build systems, or wrestle with "why isn't AI helping more?" this one’s for you.

#3 Trump’s AI Plan: Deregulate, Dominate, Decouple

The White House just released an AI Action Plan aimed at loosening regulations, fast-tracking infrastructure projects, and cementing U.S. dominance in AI.

It proposes withholding federal funds from states with “burdensome” rules and restricting contracts to developers whose models are deemed “free from top-down ideological bias.”

Plenty will welcome the blueprint. But big concerns remain, including one raised by Hernan Chiosso and Anastasia Fischer from our community: the plan shifts ethical oversight onto individuals and even penalizes states that introduce stronger guardrails.

If you build, sell, or advise in AI, especially within the U.S., this would mark a shift in the playing field. Read a full Bloomberg breakdown here.

Prompt of the Week

A good prompt makes all the difference, even when you're just using a core LLM.

Do you want to explore how AI MIGHT transform your job? Hernan Chiosso created a Deep Research prompt to help with that question.

Searching in public and company job portals, gather 10 different [YOUR_TITLE] job postings (from 10 different companies) in the [YOUR_INDUSTRY] industry.

Pull their responsibilities, de‑duplicate, analyze, and distill them into a single, clean responsibility list.

For every responsibility in that synthesized list, propose 3 very specific AI enhancements. Don't just think of incorporating new tools, some of the enhancements can be improvements to the workflow, or new ways of looking at things.

Tag each AI enhancement with one of the following:
• Support = minimal boost to the existing process
• Augment = major boost while people still steer
• Automate = AI largely replaces the process
• Transform = AI creates a brand‑new, native approach

Add two additional, highly creative AI ideas per responsibility, tag them Out‑of‑the‑box.

For each one of the job responsibilities, add:
- A brief section that suggests how to repurpose the time you gain back by implementing AI in your workflow, in support of that same job responsibility.
- A brief section that highlights what new skills would be valuable for this role to add, to offset what has been enhanced by AI.

Present everything in a clear, structured format that’s easy to scan and edit, but keep the language human and friendly.

👉 Try it, tweak it, and save it for your future use. If this prompt is helpful (or if you made it better), share with us here or with Chiosso here!

  • Miriam Gilbert raised a “first-world AI problem”: what do you do in the awkward 10–30 second pause while waiting for your AI to respond? Our community chimed in with micro-break tips and other clever ideas to make the most of that wait time.
  • “AI climate guilt” is real - Anastasia Fischer coined the term and many members are resonating. With AI usage booming, members are becoming more intentional about energy use and environmental impact.
  • Anastasia also asked: “Is anyone else noticing more hallucinations in ChatGPT 3.0, especially when it talks about itself?” If you’ve seen similar quirks, reply and share your experience.
  • Anushka Arellano asked for AI-powered coaching simulation tool recommendations, and the community delivered with a strong list of recommendations to get her started.
  • Dean Stanberry shared a workflow tip: using ChatGPT in Canvas mode seems to yield his best results, especially when he downloads from there. Have you tried it yet?
